Doogs 2014

I travelled down south for a music festival on the weekend with a notepad and a borrowed digital SLR in tow and did a write up when I got back. I edited the photos on Photoshop - mostly cropping and applying adjustment filters (contrast and exposure) - and made a GIF using photoshop timeline. I submitted it to a local press site, Rotunda Media, as a .docx (word document) with photos (compressed to ~500kB, except for the header which had to have a larger resolution) via email.

Its been published and is getting heaps of shares, so much fun seeing my baby fly!

Gravity City

Effect of sudden increase in gravity on a city landscape

Gravity City animated gif @ 25cms (23.10.2014)

In this work I have used layers & opacity alterations to change the way the city appears in shifting its reality and in doing this it appears to change to a vortex like image.

Travel Gif

Travel from Central to the Train Station.
I have been taking photographs of peoples bags and contents to grasp the concept of what people might take with them on a daily basis, or wherever they might be going. People where asked to layout the contents and their bags in a way they found natural. Colour was eliminated to create a nuetral link between images and the objects within. I would like to take these images further into an animation.

Research: Paddling on the River

This term's theme of travel has inspired me to bring my hobby; kayaking, into the studio.

I paddle on the Swan River several times a week. It's a huge part of my routine. It's a time and a space for me to think as well as little bit of that exercise people keep on going on about.

These images have been taken on a goPro camera taped to my paddle and have been left largely unedited. The way the water and the light combine to distort the images reminds me of the meditative headspace I fall into once i hit the river.

At this stage I intend on focusing on a video work that represents both the physical movement of the paddling action and the psychological space I travel to through the motion.

For studio I've chosen to create a stop animation of clothing travels. Starting with the washing basket and ending on the body. Above are images of my brainstorm page and images found on google of people doing their washing.

Chaos vs Still (Showing The Movement Of Speed)

For our studio practice our theme is travel. so I have chosen to base my projects around the moment and travel of cycling.

So in this media class i'm going to elaborate the feel and movement through using images and video to express the feeling of speed.

So in this particular photo was the time when we where in Vietnam 2014 where as you can see the chaos outside from the car and the stillness inside the car as where driving thought the streets of vietnam.

Gravity Research

Video Inspiration - Term 4

Hieronymus Bosch in my travels;

It Came to me in a Pub

The way I have had most success with video, is by turning the mundane into something completely different. When I saw the bubbles in my beer I couldn't help but use it for my gravity project.
By using the Kaleidoscope tool in FinalCut pro I have tried to replicate the central force and pull of gravity. My idea for the gravity project is all about its violence.
